Same-Day Crowns
Custom Crowns in a Single Visit
When a tooth is significantly damaged or weakened, a dental crown restores strength, function, and appearance. With same-day crown technology, we can design, create, and place your custom crown in a single appointment.
This means no temporary crown and no second visit.
- How Same-Day Crowns Work Using advanced digital scanning, we capture a precise 3D image of your tooth. The crown is then digitally designed to fit your bite and surrounding teeth accurately.
Once the design is finalized, the restoration is milled in-office from high-quality ceramic and carefully finished before placement.
Every step is completed with attention to detail to ensure proper fit, balanced bite alignment, and long-term durability.

FAQ About Same-Day Crowns
- Are same-day crowns as strong as traditional crowns? Yes. CEREC® crowns are made from high-quality ceramic materials that are durable, long-lasting, and designed to handle normal biting and chewing forces.
- Is the same-day crown procedure painful? The process is similar to receiving a traditional crown. We ensure your comfort with local anesthesia, and many patients find the digital scanning process more comfortable than traditional impressions.
- How long does a same-day crown appointment take? A same-day dental crown appointment typically takes between 90 minutes and three hours, depending on the complexity of the case and the number of teeth needs to be prepared. During that time, your tooth is prepared, digitally scanned, designed, milled, and permanently placed.
- How long do same-day crowns last? With proper care—including brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits—same-day crowns can last many years, often a decade or longer.
- Am I a candidate for a same-day crown? Most patients who need a dental crown are excellent candidates. During your exam, Dr. Burgmeier will evaluate your tooth and determine if CEREC® same-day restoration is the right solution for you.
